Goodwill Attended Donation Center to Open in Caledonia
09/10/2009
GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Goodwill Industries of Greater Grand Rapids is pleased to announce the opening of a Goodwill Attended Donation Center in Caledonia on Saturday, September 12 at 8:00 a.m. The donation center is located in The Villager at 9321 Cherry Valley Avenue. The center will be open from 8:00 am – 8:00 pm Mondays through Saturdays and 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm on Sundays.
The Caledonia Attended Donation Center is the second one to open in the southeast area of Kent County following the Cascade opening in May. “Our goal is to make the process of donating to Goodwill as convenient as possible,” says Vice President of Community Relations Jill Wallace. “Donations are vital for Goodwill to help fund over 20 job training programs for individuals with barriers to employment right here in our community.”
Customers who bring in donations during Saturday’s grand opening will be entered to win prizes from neighboring businesses. The 2,100 square foot building features a lobby area with donation bins and a donation sorting area to expedite the process of distributing donations to Goodwill Stores. Goodwill staff at the donation center will assist customers with their donations. Items such as clothing, small household items, and electronics should be brought inside the center’s lobby. Customers who donate large items such as furniture will be assisted in the back of the store. A complete list of acceptable donations can be found at
www.goodwillgr.org under “donate”.
“In today’s economy, Goodwill has seen an increase in shoppers which gives us a greater need for donations,” says Wallace. “The Goodwill Attended Donation Center gives consumers another convenient location in addition to our Goodwill Stores for bringing in donations.” This is the fourth stand-alone donation center in the greater Grand Rapids area. The other Goodwill Attended Donation Centers are located in Cascade, Jenison, and at the Grandville office.
