City Middle/High School plans to Share the Warmth this Month

12/01/2009

Grand Rapids, MIStudents, faculty, and families from City Middle and High School are gearing up for winter by partnering with Goodwill Industries of Greater Grand Rapids, Inc. to collect donations. The “Share The Warmth” donation drive at City Middle/High School will take place on Thursday, December 3rd through Thursday, December 17th

“As we head toward colder months, items like coats, sweaters, hats, and boots are needed to help the many families who shop at our Goodwill Stores,” said Vice President of Community Relations Jill Wallace. “By hosting the ‘Share The Warmth’ donation drive at the school, families and students can easily drop off their donated items.”

Customers who make donations are providing resources that fund Goodwill’s employment and placement programs in the greater Grand Rapids community.  Revenues from retail sales help fund job training programs that put individuals with barriers to employment back to work. With a struggling economy, more job seekers are looking for assistance which leads to an increase in demand of services.

“Donation drives are not only a great resource for Goodwill Industries, but can also set an example of giving back to the community to the students,” said Wallace. “We encourage the community to ‘share the warmth’ which not only helps our shoppers, but ultimately puts people back to work.”
